Onest Energy entered one of the most crowded categories in drinks — energy — up against household names with enormous marketing budgets. The product and branding were already award-winning (UK Soft Drinks Awards 2026), but the storefront needed to match that quality and do three jobs at once: convert cold traffic landing from paid and social, drive recurring revenue through subscriptions, and handle a growing volume of customer queries without the team drowning in inboxes.
They needed a site that felt as premium and characterful as the cans themselves — fast, mobile-first, and built to sell — not a generic theme bent to fit.

We started with conversion, not decoration. Every page was designed around a clear job: get the right product in front of the right customer and remove friction on the way to checkout.
Rather than start from a blank canvas, we built on our in-house Shopify foundation — a lightweight, performance-first starter theme using a CSS variable-driven token system. That let us move quickly while keeping the build completely bespoke to Onest's brand. The flavour palette (berry magenta, tropical orange, mango lime) flows through the entire UI from a single source of truth, so the site feels unmistakably Onest on every page.
Alongside the storefront, we layered in the commercial and operational tooling the brand needed to scale: subscriptions to lock in repeat revenue, and a proper support stack to keep customers happy as order volume grows.

Bespoke Shopify theme
A fully custom, conversion-led theme built on our performance-first foundation. Mobile-first throughout, with fast load times, a brand-led homepage hero, and product and collection pages designed to convert. The CSS variable token system means flavour colours, type and spacing are all controlled centrally — making the site quick to extend as Onest adds new flavours and lines.
Recharge subscriptions
We implemented Recharge to turn one-off buyers into recurring customers. Subscribe & Save options sit directly on the product page, customers get a self-service portal to manage, pause, swap or skip deliveries, and the whole flow is styled to match the theme rather than feeling bolted on. This gives Onest a predictable, recurring revenue base from day one.
Gorgias helpdesk
We set up Gorgias to centralise customer support across email, social and live chat in a single inbox, connected directly to Shopify order data so the team can see order and subscription details without leaving the conversation. Macros and automations handle the most common queries (delivery, subscription changes, order status), cutting response times and keeping support manageable as the brand grows.
